When Martha Tilton sang with Benny Goodman she was initially billed as the Sweetheart of Swing before becoming better known affectionately as The Liltin Miss Tilton. Goodman kept Martha busy and between October 1937 and the summer of 1939 Goodman placed in excess of thirty recordings on the American Top 20 of which Marthas vocals featured on 27 tracks including two chart-toppers. To crown it all, Martha performed with the band in the historically triumphant Carnegie Hall concert in January 1938 that inspired the 1955 Hollywood bio-pic Benny Goodman Story. Martha played herself in the movie.

After leaving Goodman Martha signed with the newly founded Capitol Records as a solo artist and had the honour of being the first artist signed to them. Capitol masters #1 & #2 are recordings by Martha. Martha stayed with Capitol for six years where she achieved eight chart entries. She began a new contract with Coral Records in early 1950.

Martha recorded a total of forty sides with Coral and we have cherry-picked the twenty seven tracks here ready for re-discovery. Most, if not all, are appearing on CD for the very first time. Tracks include Ill Always Love You, the novelty I Said My Pajamas, two numbers with Brazilian classical and jazz guitarist Laurindo Almeida -Miserlou the Almeida composed The Happy Bird, and a song with Les Brown, Few And Far Between.

Martha died in Brentwood, California on December 8, 2006.
