An exceptional song stylist with a clear, firm voice and an ability to sing in several languages were attributes which contributed to the successful career of Jane Morgan, making her an international celebrity and a million selling recording star. Although Jane was born in Boston and had enrolled at the Julliard School of Music in New York, it was in Paris where her career took off. In 1946, Jane came to the attention of French singer and band leader Bernard Hilda, who offered her a contract to sing at his night club in Paris. Jane became a popular attraction in the French capital and during the next few years her reputation was established throughout EUROPE.

To begin this collection we have included two historical recordings she recorded with Bernard Hilda, C'est Tout and J'aurais Bien Donné Dix Ans De Ma Vie. Jane then appeared in the show "Three Cheers" at the London Casino in May 1953 and while in London Jane made her first English language recordings, Eyes Of Blue came from the award winning western film SHANE and If I Were A Bell was heard nightly in the recently opened London production of GUYS AND DOLLS. The very same month various versions of April In Portugal were racing up the American ‘Billboard' charts. This was a Portuguese song revived in 1953 with the inclusion of English lyrics and on this CD we are treated to a light, relaxed, interpretation of the song by our star vocalist.

Upon her return to New York and headlining the Mocambo Club where she was billed as "The Girl From Paris", Jane Morgan became the first female vocalist to sign with the newly founded Kapp Records. The initial issues were of a commercial nature including The Heart You Break and Let's Go Steady, but she also recorded some standards on her debut LP (tracks ten to twenty-one on this collection). The pianist Roger Williams was paired on several recordings with Jane Morgan. One of these, Two Different Worlds, proved a good seller in 1956. "Valse Tzigane" a French song with an English lyric became popular again under the title Fascination. and Jane's recording became a million seller reaching number seven in the American charts. From that point on Jane Morgan continued with a very successful career for more than twenty five years. She was a regular guest on television specials, starred in Broadway shows, had further chart triumphs and continued to be in demand for in person appearances. Jane married film producer Jerry Weintraub and her most recent credits are as assistant to her husband, producer of the popular films "Ocean's 12" and "Ocean's 13".
