Although film star Jane Russell's screen image was that of a sex goddess, her private life lacked the scandals that involved other actresses of the time. Brought up in a religious home Jane actively practiced her faith in Hollywood and together with two other soloists - Connie Haines and Beryl Davis, the girls formed a trio performing inspirational songs mainly at benefits and it was a winning combination. Their repertoire ran the gamut from solid spirituals to religious ballads and rocking novelties. "Do Lord", the first record release from the girls was a hit and their charities began to prosper from record sales.

If one of them had a previous commitment, there were two other ladies on standby - actress Rhonda Fleming and singer Della Russell so this group of girls kept busy throughout the 1950s and 1960s. And sometimes the trio would become a quartet but their aim was always the same - to entertain with songs of faith.

"I love the Lord" is a statement that sums up Jane Russell's philosophy. While she is best known for musicals, Westerns, and adventure films, too little has been said about her strong belief in God. We salute her for her deep spiritual conviction with this re-issue of her 1950s recordings that carry a message and a hand-clapping beat.

For bonus tracks we have included songs Jane performed in her movies THE FRENCH LINE and THE REVOLT OF MAMIE STOVER, and showcasing her comic timing in the two rare narratives – "Hollywood Cinderella" and "Hollywood Riding Hood".
