The "International Singing Star" Caterina Valente first made herself known to American audiences with her rendition of "Malaguena" followed by another success "The Breeze and I". After signing with RCA her first single for them, "La Strada del'Amore" won her a Grammy nomination for Best Female Vocal Performance.
She followed this accolade with a best-selling album "Classics With A Chaser" in which the orchestra recorded 6 popular classical tunes and she sang the same 6 tunes but with English lyrics and with a contemporary sound. The remaining 14 bonus tracks on this CD represent her European success with tunes performed in Italian and in German.
