We
were
greatly
encouraged
by
the
enthusiastic
response
to
our
first
Billy
Daniels
CD
Around
Midnight
(SEPIA
1017)
released
in
2003,
but
the
icing
on
the
cake
was
receiving
a
complimentary
note
from
his
family
offering
help
should
we
decide
on
a
follow-up.
So
here
is
the
sequel
-
30
tracks
all
on
CD
for
the
first
time,
songs
spanning
three
decades
from
the
1940s
to
the
1960s
and
digitally
re-mastered
from
78s
including
four
live
performances
courtesy
of
the
Daniels
family.
Billy
Daniels
needs
no
introduction.
Apart
from
being
associated
with
"That
Old
Black
Magic"
his
many
triumphs
at
the
world's
top
cabaret
venues
are
legendary,
and
his
holdover
record
at
New
York's
famed
Copacabana
Club
still
stands.
In
America
he
was
the
first
black
performer
to
have
his
own
weekly
television
show
(before
Nat
King
Cole).
He
starred
on
Broadway
in
Golden
Boy
with
Sammy
Davis
Jr.
and
in
the
all-black
cast
of
Hello
Dolly
with
Pearl
Bailey.
In
the
West
End
he
headed
the
cast
of
Bubbling
Brown
Sugar.
We
are
delighted
to
have
the
opportunity
to
release
not
one
but
two
CDs
representing
his
finest
songs.
